Bluebell Wood

Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice have gone green by recently appointing local company West Electrical Energy Ltd to complete a second solar PV installation and a comprehensive LED lighting conversion at the hospice.   The Children’s Hospice are hoping to save £200,000 over 20 years.

Pictured are the team from West Electrical Energy and some of the staff from the hospice, in the background you can see the Solar PV installation.

The hospice reduced its electricity spend by installing the first 10 kWp system in 2012. A second 20 kWp installation, completed this spring will reduce their carbon footprint even further and the solar panels provide a tax free, index-linked income guaranteed for 20 years.

Andy Drury, Facilities Manager at Bluebell Wood, said: “The original system produced 20% more electricity than predicted so we thought there would be no better way to invest the charities’ money. The addition of the new solar panels will enable us to generate our own electricity, saving a phenomenal amount (of money) on our electricity bills whilst receiving an annual income for the next 20 years. The LED lighting conversion will dramatically reduce our electricity usage and the money saved will be invested back into the hospice and our children, helping them make unforgettable memories. Craig has been a great supporter of Bluebell Wood for many years and offers us the very best prices. Bluebell Wood would like to say a special thank you to West Electrical Energy Ltd for all the work they complete at the hospice.”

West Electrical Energy Ltd is a locally based domestic and commercial electrical installation company, they are MCS (Microgeneration Certification Scheme) accredited – enabling them to install Solar PV systems under the scheme. In addition to solar, they offer other energy saving initiatives such as Voltage Optimisation and LED lighting conversions.

Craig West, Managing Director of West Electrical Energy Ltd , said:

“We are proud supporters of the Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice, a much loved and respected self-funding charitable organisation. We try our best to support the hospice whenever and wherever we can.”

The team at West Electrical Energy Ltd have pledged that for every new installation they will donate £100 to the charity. To take advantage of this offer, please quote ‘Bluebell Wood’ when contacting the company.
